What's New in FoodPilot — May 2026: Smarter Shopping Lists, More Stores, and Recipes That Fit You

At FoodPilot, our mission is simple: help you plan delicious meals, compare grocery prices automatically, and build a smart shopping list that saves you money every week. This May we shipped a batch of upgrades that do exactly that — more stores to compare, shopping lists that learn from you, and clearer recipe details. Here's the rundown.

Compare Prices Across Four Grocery Stores — IGA Has Arrived

The headline feature this month: IGA is now a fully supported grocery store in FoodPilot. That brings us to four major Quebec grocery chains you can compare in a single shopping list.

When FoodPilot builds your list, it now scans even more stores for the best price on every ingredient — so you spend less time flipping through flyers and more time cooking. Just pick IGA as your preferred store in your preferences, and your weekly list will pull live prices automatically.

Why it matters: more stores means more price competition, and more price competition means bigger savings on your grocery bill.

Your Shopping List Now Learns From You

FoodPilot uses AI to pick the best product for each ingredient on your list. But you know your tastes better than any algorithm — so now you're in control.

This month we added:

  • Thumbs-down ratings on any product pick. Don't like the brand or size we chose? Flag it.
  • Promote an alternative. Prefer a different product from the suggestions? Tap to promote it, and FoodPilot remembers your choice on that list.

Your preferences are saved with the shopping list, so the products you actually want stay front and center.

Why it matters: FoodPilot becomes your assistant, not a one-size-fits-all tool. Every correction makes your list more accurate.

Clearer, More Trustworthy Recipe Details

Recipes now show the details that help you decide what to cook tonight. We added recipe metadata chips — difficulty level, prep time, and cooking time — right in the recipe view, so you can match a meal to the time you actually have.

We also polished the details under the hood:

  • Difficulty levels now display correctly in French (and English), so Quebec users get a properly localized experience.
  • Cooking and prep times of "0" no longer show as misleading values — if a time isn't known, we simply leave it out instead of guessing.

Why it matters: no surprises. You see honest, accurate recipe info before you commit to a meal.

✨ A Smoother, Faster App

We also spent May making FoodPilot quicker and more reliable to use day to day:

  • Faster, more reliable sign-in — we removed bottlenecks that could cause login timeouts.
  • A cleaner navigation experience with a dedicated login button and a quick shortcut to your subscription.
  • Stability fixes that eliminate rare crashes for a smoother experience on every device.

Why it matters: the best features only count if the app is fast and dependable. This month it got both.
